Regulators seek more time to decide on the amendment to the Core intraday capacity calculation methodology

National regulatory authorities from the Core capacity calculation region have asked ACER for an additional three months to assess a proposed amendment to the region’s intraday capacity calculation methodology. The request, submitted on 17 July 2026, concerns a proposal prepared by the Core transmission system operators. The Core region is the European Union’s largest electricity capacity calculation region and covers 13 Member States, including Hungary, Germany, France, Poland and the Netherlands.

The methodology determines how much cross-border transmission capacity can be made available for intraday electricity trading. First approved in 2020, it has already been revised several times, and the current proposal would represent its sixth amendment. The changes are intended to reflect the continuing development of capacity-calculation practices and support more efficient, secure cross-border electricity trading and further integration of the EU power market. ACER stated that it intends to ensure a timely decision.
